How to Save Marriage From Divorce

by: Frank McGinty

i

Is it really possible to save marriage from divorce? Or is the recent trend for one in three marriages to end in divorce a sign that we have grown up as a society and that freedom and self-determination have advanced?

Well, consider this. In a recent poll in the UK, pre-teen kids were asked:

"If you were king or queen of the world, what rules would you make?"

It appears that 'save marriage from divorce' was high on their agenda! Not many people expected the kids' Number One rule to be 'Ban divorce'!

Yet it was.

Our kids know the ugly side of divorce. They don't need films like 'War of the Roses' and 'Kramer versus Kramer' to bring this home. Many have experienced the sadness, fear and bitterness that more often than not accompany divorce - or they've witnessed it among their friends.

The (UK) National Child Development Study (April 2008) concluded:

"Divorce has repercussions that reverberate through childhood and into adulthood... Children from disrupted families tend to do less well in school and subsequent careers than their peers. They are also more likely to experience the break-up of their own partnerships."

No wonder many parents AND their children want to save marriage from divorce!

Yet so many parents go ahead with divorce, not because they are callous or uncaring, but because they can see no other way forward. They simply don't know where to turn for help, or they lack the impetus to tell others about their difficulties.

Often parents are unaware of their own weaknesses. Frequently they go into a marriage with ill-conceived expectations, so their demands can be unreasonable. The start of the breakup may be under way as soon as the marriage has begun.

Nobody doubts the sincerity of couples who take their wedding vows, and promise to love and support each other even through the bad times. But when those 'bad times' arrive, they often just don't know how to get through them.

It's made worse by the fact that we live in a 'disposable' society. We've become accustomed to having our way, to moving from one thing to another when we feel displeased or frustrated. Without a solid training in early childhood, it's difficult to persevere and see things through.

And the fact that the laws on divorce have been relaxed makes it so much easier to break-up rather than attempt to save marriage from divorce.

There's no denying that divorce has an ugly side - and it's only human to seek the easy way out in order to avoid staying in an unpleasant situation.

Sometimes parents benefit from divorce, but studies show that children rarely do. If you are keen to save your marriage from divorce, bear in mind that it will be a major challenge.

You may have to seek professional marriage counseling. This may be expensive or simply not available, but the good news is that you can also access many 'save marriage from divorce' resources online. There's no need to go it alone!

How to Save Your Marriage from Infidelity

by: James Walsh

In order to tackle this growing menace, one has to first understand it in its fullest form. One will have to study where most divorces are taking place and the reasons thereof. A small amount of research will show that the rate of divorce in the developed parts of the world is facing an exorbitant increase and that the main culprit in the largest number of cases is infidelity.

Infidelity

Infidelity has been the bane of marriage since time immemorial. It was around even when the society was in its nascent stages. Infidelity is known to have rocked the boat of many famous marriages and destroyed a large number of happy families.

Remaining faithful to one’s spouse is one of the first vows taken at the time of wedding by the new couple. It is the cornerstone of married life. One takes the attentions of his or her spouse for granted and assumes that the other partner will remain responsible and not endanger the marriage by going astray.

Unfortunately that need not be the scenario. There can be a number of reasons for a person going astray. There are ups and downs in all marriages. The trick is to travel the road with as much support to each other as possible. If this is not done then things can go wrong.

Pressures of Married Life

A marriage has to cross numerous hurdles. Some of them are:

Financial: It may be that there is a great amount of financial trouble looming large on the horizons of the marriage. Even the everyday necessities may become difficult to provide for. In such a situation there is bound to be tension at home. This tension may become over consuming for some people. They may start for looking for solace outside of the married life. That can be one possible cause of an individual going adrift.

Behaviour Problem: If one individual becomes over demanding and starts to impinge on the individuality of his or her partner, then the scenario can be suffocating for the spouse who is at the receiving end. If the behaviour is not modified in time or is not dealt with effectively then again the marriage can get rocked.

Addictions: Addictions of any kind can disrupt the harmonious movement of life for both married partners. An addiction can be substance abuse or alcoholism or any other. If this kind of way of life is not put in check then it can be destructive not only for the person himself or herself but also for the married life and the family as a whole. Once again the suffering partner may be forced to look for support and succour outside of the marriage.

Nagging Partner: If one of the two partners is too dominating or nagging, it can become a source of irritant for the other partner. Constant nagging will also annoy the spouse endlessly. One must understand that in order to make the marriage work, such behavioural traits should be studiously avoided. All the constant demands and nagging will only work to decrease the interest of the spouse in remaining faithful and committed to the marriage.

Interfering Family: An excessive extent of interference from the family members can also cause disruptions in a comfortable and smooth functioning of the married life. In this scenario, if the affected partner does not get requisite support from his or her spouse, then he or she may feel bogged down from all sides. If such a situation arises then anyone who can provide a comforting shoulder to him or her will be a welcome change.

These are only some of the scenarios that can lead to a person seeking solace outside of the married life. It can easily lead to an episode of infidelity. It does not matter whether the infidelity is a short term fling or a long term affair. The issue of concern is that it can easily destroy marriage. It is best if both the partners avoid all the above mentioned situations.

They have to understand that in marriage their commitment to each other is meant to be absolute. They have to face the hurdles of financial hardships together. In marriage they have to walk together and one must avoid being too dominating or a nagging spouse. They must respect each others views and take all important decisions together. Addictions are anyhow to be avoided and if they exist then they are to be cured. Similarly if the other partner is facing problems from the family then his or her spouse should stand by him or her.

7 Innovative Ways to Save Your Marriage

by: Cucan Pemo

Are you in a tough spot in your marriage right now? Every relationship has its problems and its rough patches, but that doesn’t mean that you need to give up when the going gets tough. For many couples, they can actually work through their problems to create a stronger relationship. Sometimes the hard times are actually learning lessons in disguise. Here are just a few tips for getting started on the right foot.

Listen

There’s nothing more damaging to a relationship than a partner that doesn’t take the time to listen. In fact, that fact alone might be the thing that has led to the feelings of dissatisfaction with a marriage. In order to be a good partner (on either end), you need to be able to remain quiet and talk through problems until both partners are satisfied. Be quiet when they are speaking and try to really listen to what they are saying.

Understand

But listening only goes so far when you’re trying to work out problems in you relationship. If you do not really understand where they are coming from, you might be creating more problems. When they are expressing themselves, you want to ask questions when appropriate in order to clarify what they are saying to you. Even if it seems uncomfortable at first, it’s important that you make sure that you understand where they are at and how you might be able to help.

A positive attitude

Why start off a rough patch by thinking that it will never get any better no matter what you do? When you’re trying to work through problems and issues, you will want to make sure that you’re going into it with a positive attitude. You don’t need to be sugary sweet, but you should start to look at your troubles as learning lessons rather than the doom of the relationship. Try to think about happier times when you start to become negative in order to turn your thinking around.

Be present

When a partner isn’t fully in the moment of trying to fix a relationship, the work becomes a one-sided affair. You need to be able to fully be there for your partner when you need to work through tough times. This might mean that you need to take a few days off work or devote certain times to discussing ways to fix your relationship. These times should be uninterrupted by work obligations or time commitments so that neither person feels rushed or distracted.

Stay calm

While you might be upset about the way that things have turned out, you need to remember that being calm is the best way to see things more clearly. Try lowering your voice when you talk – it automatically lowers your blood pressure and your anger. Try to take a few deep breaths before you say anything – this will help you to be clear and calm as you speak. Many people perceive becoming flustered or upset as being angry, and that can lead to a poor environment for working through issues.

Make plans

One of the best ways to help save your marriage is to start creating long term plans with your partner. While this might not seem like the best idea at the time, it will create the idea that you are both going to make it through the rough patch that you have stumbled upon – somehow. Try to make plans for vacations or other far in the future appointments. This will create a little less pressure because the future isn’t so vague and unable to be seen in the dark that you are experiencing at the time.

Take time away

While you don’t have to become legally separated to do this, taking time away from each other is one of the best ways to stop a marriage from becoming a divorced marriage. When you take time away from each other, you allow yourself to have a new perspective on the events that are happening. And this can allow you to see new solutions as well as new ideas for how to handle the problems that you may be having. Even if it’s just a night or a few hours, taking time to step back from an issue can help it become easier to resolve.

Save Your Marriage - Save Your Children

I live in a town that has a beautiful meditation garden sitting atop 100-foot bluffs that look out over the Pacific Ocean. It is a great tourist spot whose beauty is not overlooked by us locals. Sometimes I go as often as two or three times a week, even if it is for just a few minutes. Sundays are a particularly busy time for the garden and it is always a pleasure to smile at others who are enjoying the beauty and tangible spiritual vibration. Yesterday when I went to the garden there was a lady with two little children, the cutest little girls you could ever imagine. One was four and a half who was just visited by the Tooth Fairy and the other was still backpack size.

It was obvious the lady had never come there before and I sort of drifted into the role of a tour guide. Although she was very sweet she seemed a bit tense and it wasn't very long before she revealed to me that she had just been divorced. As any of my kids would tell you I am very sensitive to that word: divorce. Over the years it has become abundantly clear to me that a divorce is something that adults do, and children go through.

Save Your Marriage, Save Your Children" Has Become One of My Battle Cries.
Have you ever done something you know you should not have done but instead of admitting it and accepting the results you find ways to rationalize? Of course you have and so has everyone else. We humans are pretty clever in our ignorance. When it comes to describing the results of divorce we have become masters of ignorance. Not only have we accepted divorce as normal but we have excused it completely and even come up with so-called benefits. We are now at the point where we suffer unbelievably if we have to go through a divorce yet publicly act as if it is no big deal. But it is a big deal. It is a huge deal and what it does to parents is nothing compared to what it does to children.

The Foundational Pillars of Each Child is The Mother and
The Father in Unity
Parents, do you know that these are not your children? You didn't create them. These children are God's. They are entrusted to those willing to sacrifice much for the privilege of raising His children. Yet our society has turned children into possessions that are fought over in courts of law. Despite all of the rhetoric of putting the children first during a divorce or separation, parents ignore the fundamental reality that they are trading away their commitment and obligations for the delusive possibility of an easier life when divorced. It won't come. All that will happen will be suffering on top of suffering as you watch your children lose the sure footedness they used to have in an intact marriage.

All Marriages are Fixable When You Know How
I have dedicated my life to saving children by saving marriages. God never intended for us to suffer in marriage; it is merely our ignorance of what is required that creates so much suffering. Don't give up. If your marriage isn't getting better every day it means you are doing something wrong. You don't need counseling, you just need to understand marriage.

Save Marriage by Understanding the Cause

There are so many couples of today that are happily married and some that are on the verge of separation and divorce. Couples have tried to cope with different problems arising in their married life yet are unable to resolve those problems that have caused many marriages to fail. Being married is not entirely all wonderful and exciting but it is a relationship that both partners must work hard on to make it a wonderful marriage. In fact, marriage needs both efforts by partners to maintain a proper understanding of how their marriage should be.

What are the reasons for marriage failures? First and foremost, a couple should understand the reasons for their marriage failures and relentlessly, try to save their marriage. There are several reasons that can cause marriages to fail often leading to separations and divorce. Reasons behind a marriage failure are likely having a misunderstanding where lack of communication from couples are experienced, arguments due to money matters, infidelity and reasons whether the marriage at the beginning was a failure.

In order to save a marriage, the couples must be willing to undergo some changes in the way their marriage is viewed. Effort, patience, and understanding are necessary to make a marriage work. The following factors can help marriage failures save marriage by adding efforts by renewing the relationship between both partners.

Mutual interests are important for married couples where couples need to have intimate moments together to share and learn about mutual interests of their partners, where differences can arise that through understanding can ensure respect and a stronger relationship for marriage couples.

Unpredictable schedules can also cause marriage failures, whereas both partners lack time for one another. Togetherness, after marriage, is very important most especially in time spent together, where passion and intimacy is practiced. But without the proper time given to their partners, they tend to loss interest and begin to disregard one another.

Communication is a very important matter in a marriage. Lack of communications means also lack of understanding, whereas couples tend to quarrel without considering any feelings for their partners, therefore, a continuance of their misunderstandings are left unresolved.

Criticism in a gentle-like manner is likely to save a marriage. Couples often make gestures offensively without their knowing, resulting for the partner to make criticisms that can lead to arguing. As much as possible, offensive criticism should be avoided in marriages, whereas gentle criticism can make the relationship in a marriage stronger.

Another factor is children, and having children in a marriage relationship are wonderful yet it can also cause marriage failure. Because as children, they tend to give problems that can arise in differences with the couples due to possible different disciplining tactics for their children.

Gifts are beautiful ways to give to a spouse as a sign of their love and with gift-giving, a spouse can woo their partner and even warm the heart of the spouse helpful to saving a marriage.

Saving a marriage is very typical for those couples that still have love in their hearts. As said, romance should always be alive in a marital relationship because if there is love, marriage becomes stronger and longer for the couples. With just a little effort from both partners can liven up the relationship in the marriage and make marriage worthwhile for couples on the verge of a break up.

Most partners have disputes about sex and money, but having terms of endearment allows both partners to remember the main reasons why they got married. As such, renewal of vows is also advisable for saving a marriage because vows tend to challenge couples to reach their goals in having a perfect marriage.

Marriage can be perfect especially for couples in love but having a perfect marriage needs effort from both partners. Marital problems can result in divorce and separation, however, with the right tips for saving marriage, couples will be able to cope and solve their marital problems.

Save Your Marriage Alone – It Really Works

by By: Syd Mckeever

You can save your marriage alone. I know that sounds crazy, but it is absolutely true. Conventional wisdom dictates that both spouses must be involved in saving a marriage, but experts in the field have realized that the traditional perspective simply is not correct.

Dr. Lee Baucom, author of Save The Marriage, draws a potent analogy between marriages and those algebra problems we used to solve back in high school that explains why you can actually save your marriage alone.

A relationship, he maintains, is not unlike an equation. If you shift the value of one side of the equation, the other side will naturally respond with an appropriate change. You cannot increase or decrease one side without affecting the other.

Couples work the same way. If you make changes within the marriage, your spouse will inevitably make changes, as well. As you change the values in the equation that is your marriage, you can take it from the brink of divorce, restoring and improving it.

Some people listen to that explanation and still dismiss it. They have been told that they cannot save a marriage by themselves so many times that they simply cannot believe there is an alternative. If that describes you, please consider a few things.

First, you need to question the wisdom of relying on conventional wisdom. The prevailing attitude claims that couples need joint therapy when marriages are at risk. However, experts estimate that strategy only works for twenty percent of participants. Compare that to Dr. Baucom's approach, which has been successful for over ninety percent of his clients.

Second, remember that you have nothing to lose. If you want to save your relationship and your spouse is not ready to assist, your only alternative to acting alone is surrender. If you wanted to give up on your marriage, you certainly would not be reading this article. There is no downside to trying to save your marriage alone. The only risk to your happiness would be doing nothing at all.

You can save your marriage alone. Others have been through this process and have experienced tremendous success. You are not required to surrender your dreams and happiness. You deserve a strong, stable and happy marriage. Do what it takes to get it.

It is not too late to stop divorce.

Right now, find and use the proven way to save a marriage.

Tips to Save Your Marriage

Marriage is an institution in which interpersonal relationships are acknowledged by the state or by religious authority. It is often viewed as a contract.

People marry for many reasons, but usually one or more of the following: legal, social, and economic stability; the formation of a family unit; procreation and the education and nurturing of children; legitimizing sexual relations; public declaration of love; or to obtain citizenship

It's truly sad to hear of marriages in trouble. No body want trouble, but trouble does happen. You may ask your self “Can I save my marriage?” My answer is yes, why? Because when you ask yourself “Can I save my marriage?” means you do want to save your marriage. Because if don't or never think of that question, there is no way you can save your marriage, but how? So I will give you tips on how to save your marriage. These tips you and your spouse can apply today to start the healing process for your relationship and marriage.

1. More communication

Communication is important in our live, so it same to marriage. If you fail to communicate with your partner, it's about time your marriage will over. The most common cause to marriage breakdown is fail to communicate or miscommunication between spouses. When problems arise, people stop talking to each other. Simply put, a marriage cannot be saved if the couple can't figure things out together. When a new problem appears, a married couple needs to talk more, not less.

2. Compromise

Compromise means you allow your love and respect for one another to have a higher priority than the matter at hand. Be the first to compromise and before you know it, you are half-way to save your marriage.

3. Make effort to show more love and affection

Many marriages break down simply because the individuals involved feel that they are not being loved or cared for. Regardless of the issue, couples must remember that feeling loved is important. This is almost a deliberate separation of the issue or problem from the love they have for one another.

4. Forgiveness

Forgiveness is important in relationship including marriage. Try to forgive and forget. Everybody make mistake. Give changes to your partner. Forgiveness is power full but difficult, that why it's powerful. With love, compromise and communication, it is easier to forgive and forget.

If ever, you are asking the question "Can I save my marriage", try to apply these 4 tips into your situation. You will be pleasantly surprised at the healing and rebuilding that can be achieved in your marriage if you only give these a try.

Can a Cheap e-Book Save a Marriage?

by: Anthony Bradley

All around the world there are couples who are in a failing marriage due to one reason or another. Some of them struggle on against the odds without any outside professional help until the inevitable happens. The marriage is over.

Why do some people avoid marriage counseling?

A partner in a troubled marriage may be nervous about seeking professional help possibly because they find it embarrassing to talk about their personal problems to a stranger, no matter how experienced and sympathetic that stranger might be. It is not easy for some people to discuss their innermost fears and failings even to a professional marriage counselor. Also, one partner may feel that their marriage is in trouble but their spouse does not seem to notice the danger signs and acts as if everything is fine. This can make it very difficult to bring up the subject without causing more conflict between the couple.

Is there an alternative to marriage counseling?

Because of this fear, thousands of people with marriage problems have turned to self-help marriage guidance book or courses, many of which have been written by experienced marriage counselors and relationship experts. Their years of experience with counseling couples with marriage problems have been distilled into books packed with expert advice and techniques. You can find lots of these marriage-saving guides on the Internet as a low-cost downloadable e-book, on audio tape or even as a multimedia product on DVD. Some even offer extra free bonus books and further support if requested. The techniques outlined in these books can be used by one willing partner on his/her own to change and improve their marriage.

Do self-help marriage guidance books really work?

The answer is very often YES; if you are willing to follow the techniques outlined in them and are determined to save your marriage. Many testimonials have been given by satisfied customers about the effectiveness of some of these marriage-saving guides and how their marriage has been saved by following the advice given in them. A word of caution though: If you think just by reading one of these books that your marriage will be miraculously saved without any effort on your part then the answer must be a resounding NO.

These books are, after all, marriage guidance books which show you how to fix a broken marriage; much like a DIY book shows you how to fix a broken fence. They will give you step-by-step guidance but you must do the actual repairs yourself. Along with the information in the book, the only tools you will need to mend a broken marriage is your own heart and willingness which you should possess already. If you don’t have these essential tools then no book on earth can save your marriage.

Conclusion:

These marriage guidance books may not be the answer for everyone with marriage problems but they are generally inexpensive and most come with a no-quibble money-back guarantee if they don’t work for you. They have helped thousands of people to save their marriages and if you are having marriage problems they may be just what you are looking for.
